On the Ancestral Throne – art you can be part of

Just look at art? Not this time. From 27 August 2027, Gernot Riedmann’s Ancestral Throne invites visitors to experience art in a completely different way as part of “Zeit für Neues” – and even become part of the artwork themselves.

On the 1st floor, in the “Raum für Neues” opposite the pharmacy, a disused lift has been transformed into an extraordinary art space. Guarded by two figures, the Ancestral Throne is waiting to be discovered – and sat upon.

Art in an unexpected place
Under the title “Zeit für Neues”, eleven national and international artists present their work in a place where you wouldn’t normally expect to find art: the MESSEPARK parking decks. The artworks have been printed on plexiglass, mounted in illuminated display boxes and brought to life with light, creating a unique interplay between everyday life, architecture, light and art.

The project offers an accessible take on the concept of “art in architecture”: visitors encounter art directly in a public space – unexpected, approachable and inspired by the joy of discovering something new.

The participating artists are Lisa Blome, Lucas Breuer, Veronika Breuer, Martin Dietrich, Harald Gmeiner, Sabeth Holland, Edgar Leissing, Hermann Praeg, Daniel Rendon, Marco Spitzar and Stark Alexander.

Exhibition and opening event
The art project is curated by Klaus Feldkircher of Galerie 9und20. In addition to the presentation at MESSEPARK, the original works will be shown in a separate exhibition at Galerie 9und20 in Bregenz, at Kirchstraße 29 – known as the building with the smallest façade in Europe.
